The ‘Royal Courts of Justice’, Strand London WC2A 2LL, is not as is stated at the beginning of the broadcast, commonly known as “The Old Bailey”.
The Royal Courts of Justice are, apart from the new Supreme Court, at Middlesex Guildhall Westminster, the location of the senior UK court houses where many Appeals from other courts are decided as well as many, mainly non criminal cases.
‘The Old Bailey’, is the home of Central Criminal Court, Old Bailey, City of London, EC4M 7EH, which is the location of the court houses of the senior criminal courts in London and the South East of England. However as Judges sit in different courts at different times so can the cases. I once was involved in a High Court family case where the main hearing had been at the RCJ but needed a later supplementary hearing at a time the Judge involved was sitting in Liverpool, so that is where we all went although the case concerned was about an Essex, family in the South East of England.
